Growing demand from the professionals amongst our clients persuaded Extrema Ratio to design a survival tool for all seasons. ONTOS (“the thing” in Greek) is a pure field knife, tough and heavyweight despite its compact size. The serrated segment on the back of the blade is meant as a back-up, never to be caught without a sharp edge ready for use. The MOLLE compatible nylon thigh sheath stays on even in the event of a retreat, when a soldier would drop most of his cumbersome primary equipment. It is possible to buy separately a survival kit to be fixed to knife sheath. Available versions: ONTOS BLACK, ONTOS GREEN.
DOBERMANN IV evolved from the first and most classic Extrema Ratio knife, the K1 DOBERMANN. Over the years, the DOBERMANN has undergone significant change in look and design to meet evolving consumer expectations and ever-changing trends, while at its core retaining consistency with the original 1997 design. This last iteration, too, excels at structural durability and flexibility of use: perhaps our most versatile knife, the DOBERMANN IV is suitable for hunting, outdoors survival, camping, defense, up to and encompassing military use. Available versions: DOBERMANN IV CLASSIC, DOBERMANN IV TACTICAL.
PRIMO CORSO is the visually faithful replica of a dagger given to members of Gruppo Operativo Incursori (an Italian Navy special forces unit) at the end of their first training course in 1952. An important piece of military history brought back to light, structurally improved thanks to N690 cobalt steel. Also available: PRIMO CORSO SPECIAL EDITION, with satin blade finish, issued in a wooden case.
Made to order for the renowned 9th Parachute Assault Regiment “Col Moschin” of the Italian special forces, which officially adopted it in 2002, this is a quintessential combat knife. It represents a contemporary reworking of daggers issued to the Arditi – the historical force in whose footsteps the 9th walks – which sported asymmetrical blades and straight but direction-sensitive hilts. Designed to be light and handy, balanced decidedly toward the hilt, with a highly perforating blade-tip. Each new “Incursore” (assault paratrooper) is issued one of these combat knives and trained to use it to its best. Available versions: COL MOSCHIN BLACK, COL MOSCHIN DESERT WARFARE, COL MOSCHIN COLLECTOR EDITION.
Scuba diving knife designed with help from experts in the field and sized for underwater use: a versatile tool and essential piece of a diver’s equipment. The stainless steel blade is very tolerant of flexing, retains a sharp edge despite wear, and a chemical burnishing process makes it highly resistant to corrosion. Clipped tip allows to use it as a prying lever, while blade serrations prove useful in cutting nets, rope and fabric. Nylon fabric and polyester ribbon combine with an antislip rubber membrane to form the soft section of the sheath, while the hard section is made of KYDEX. Sheath is designed to allow for multiple mounting options, to equipment or user: it can be attached to the VIS, ankle-fastened, arm-fastened, or attached to the weights belt through the Extrema Ratio BELT-CLIP system (not included). The nylon handle is loaded with glass fibers and features an antislip surface finish, granting perfect ergonomic grip both with and without gloves: This enables both finesse and strength work. The sheath features an anti-panic release system enabling quick extraction by simple pulling, no operation of the safety buckle needed. Additionally, the DICOK knife includes a first-stage valve unlocking tool.
The compact version of our TASK multipurpose knife. Besides a reduced size of both blade and hilt, TASK C differs from the full-sized TASK in having a plain – not partially serrated – edge. The included hard sheath can be worn vertically, horizontally or obliquely (at a 45° angle). Available versions: TASK C BLACK, TASK C DESERT WARFARE.
TASK is a knife for all everyday cutting jobs. Its double-edged, flat-ground blade is partially symmetrical. A depression in the blade next to the guard, dividing blade-tip from handle, accommodates the index finger for a closer-to-the-edge grip, providing enhanced control. This combines with the finger waves on the spine to improve grip and prevent fingers from slipping onto the sharp edge. This allows a user to apply greater strength and pressure. Available versions: TASK BLACK, TASK DESERT WARFARE.
BF1 is a folding knife for everyday use: simple, essential and functional. The blade is burnished, with a flat grind and a thick, durable tip. Characteristical lowered flat areas in the handle – also burnished black give access to the opening “pins”, which don’t protrude from the knife when closed. The reversible clip is located on the back of the blade and engulfs its tang – making it discreet to carry. Employs the trustworthy LINER-LOCK blade blocking system. Available versions: BF1 CT BLACK, BF1 CT BLACK ROUGH, BF1 CT DESERT WARFARE, BF1 CD BLACK, BF1 CD BLACK ROUGH, BF1 CD DESERT WARFARE.
One of the most robust folding knives on the market, M.P.C. incorporates all the characteristics of the FULCRUM II, but its heavier blade enables more effective cutting blows, useful in field work. The drop-point blade sports an upper guard that well fits its profile. The handle measures longer than in regular folding knives: sticking out the hand, it can be used for non-lethal blows. A manual security lock holds the BACK-LOCK mechanism lever, preventing accidental unlocking of the blade block during heavy-duty use. It can also be used to lock the knife closed in the event it’s taken away from the user: then the M.P.C. cannot be opened, even if the mechanism is often irrevocably damaged. Available versions: M.P.C. BLACK, M.P.C. BLACK RUVIDO, M.P.C. TIRATORI SCELTI, M.P.C DESERT WARFARE.
A compact emergency tool useful for both urban use and emergency operations/MVA rescue. The main blade is designed for general use with a liner-lock mechanism to lock the blade open. The emergency blade (belt-cutter) can be spring-opened by pressing a button on the handle and automatically locks into position after opening. It has a rounded tip to prevent accidental injury. This folding knife comes with: standard blade with special square shape, auto-opening emergency blade (belt cutting blade), marlin spike, glass breaker, clip, cordura sheath.
In June 2006, the “185° Rgt. Ricognizione e Acquisizione Obiettivi” (Target Acquisition Regiment) airborne “FOLGORE” (185° RAO) entrusted to Extrema Ratio the development of a unique knife fitting the unit’s specific operational duties. This resulted in the RAO: not an oversized folder as much as a compact survival & field knife, with a heavy and dependable blade. Its very reliable locking system, assisted by an extra safety device, effectively turns this folder into a fixed blade knife. The opening and closing is to be performed with both hands in order to minimize the risk of self-inflicted injuries, as the blade, because of its weight, is a veritable guillotine. The extra safe device is a steel pin to be hand-screwed through two holes by the guard section of the massive Anticorodal aluminum handle – its presence between blade and hand also acting as a great psychological boon. The sheath is an essential part of this weapon system: it holds a diamond-plate sharpener and enables user to carry the knife either in open position, held in place by a cord and two clips, or closed, inside the front pocket. The sheath can be attached to tactical vests or common belts, being MOLLE system-compliant. Available versions: RAO BLACK, RAO BLACK RUVIDO, RAO DESERT WARFARE
Everything just said of the MF line is true of model MF1. Its variant, MF1 BC (“Belt Cutter”) features a built-in belt cutter in the handle, designed to accommodate a standard industrial-grade cutter blade which is easily replaced. It also sports a built-in screwdriver for adjusting firearm optics. Version with integrated Belt Cutter. This version is produced with a rough handle for a better grip.
Our restyled series of training knives are manufactured in a wide range of models of diverse size and shape. They enable martial arts practitioners and professionals to train different combat techniques with an appropriate and dedicated tool. All training knives are produced in a metallic blue colour which makes them easily identified even when sheathed. The blades are produced from anodized aluminum and have the very same shape and size of the Extrema Ratio standard production models. The handles are the same used in our production models. The sheaths, sold separately, are the same used for the real knives. The stiff blade allows for training complex defensive and disarming techniques. We recommend the use of appropriate protective gear when training.
